Bucket List

We've been in Boston for just over eight years.  In that time I feel like we've done most of what we'd want to do - been to Fenway, hiked the Freedom Trail, taken a couple Duck Tours.  We've also been able to explore much of New England taking in the changing fall colors of Vermont, mansions in Rhode Island and relaxing on Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod.  Jean is a big snowboarder so we've also spent a good amount of time in Maine and New Hampshire in the winter months.

So what do we have left on our Boston bucket list?  Not a whole lot in fact. However at the top of that very short list are the quintessential Swan Boats at the Public Gardens.  I know - probably the cheapest and easiest tourist attraction in all of Boston.  Perhaps the very reason that we've never done it! Weather permitting we'll try and knock that one off tomorrow.  One other last to do - a trip up the 52 floors of the Prudential Center for 360 degree views of the city we've called home for almost a decade.  Here's to hoping we'll have enough breaks in packing and some other final errands to knock these off the list.

It's not goodbye...it's see you soon

Goodbyes are never easy.  We've been spending the last few days in Cleveland visiting family before we head to France next week.  I'm trying hard to not treat it as a time to say farewell to family but instead like it's just a normal trip home.  We are planning on coming back right after Christmas which is likely when we would have made our next trip home anyway.  That makes it much more manageable.

I'm hoping that we'll have plenty of friends and family that will visit to try and bridge the gap in our trips back to the US. The first visitor looks to be my little sister Stefanie who is dying to try out her high school French on actual French people!  If all goes as planned, she'll be our first house guest arriving in mid-November.

For now, it's time to just enjoy the company of family here in Cleveland until we leave tomorrow for one last week in Boston.  Boston bucket list - get ready to be tackled!

And so it begins...

It's been official for a while - a relocation to France after 8 years of living in Boston.  In that time, we got married, had two adorable kids and made some great friends. Though it'll be hard leaving friends and family here in the states, we are looking forward to a new adventure in France.

I thought starting a blog (something I've never done before!) would be a great way of chronicling this incredible experience and hopefully help with my adjustment abroad.  I mean thousands of followers waiting anxiously for my next post will be motivation enough to embark on some adventures.  Right?  Anyway, that's my hope.  So sit tight and enjoy the ride as we put an American twist on Alsace.
